Website Migration
-
Q: What exactly does web site migration imply and what does it entail?
A: If your present web hosting provider can no longer match the demands of your web site, or if you go through constant network downtime, or if you are made to wait for hours for the help desk team to respond to you, it might be a good idea to swap your web hosting provider, i.e. to move all the files for your web sites along with your databases from your present provider to your future provider. At Hosting Voyage, we realize that this can often be difficult & time–consuming. That is why we’ll accomplish all that for you at no cost! Our highly trained technical team reps will move your web site content from your present provider to us. Our techs have got broad experience with website migration and are able to take care of anything – from a common WordPress–driven blog or Joomla™–powered website, to a very elaborate, custom–made application.
-
Q: Website migration sounds like lots of work. How much time can it take?
A: We try to accomplish all website migrations as fast as possible. However, we don’t have a fixed time frame for web site migrations. There are certain aspects that you have to take into account – the sheer size of your site and the workload of our website migration staff, etc. We always strive to carry out each migration in less than 48 hours. With smaller–sized web sites, our staff usually manages to finish in less than 24 hours.
-
Q: Do you need something from me before you begin moving my site?
A: We don’t require any private info. We will need, however, the login info for your old web hosting account as well as the name of the web site that you need to migrate.
-
Q: The login details for my hosting account are sensitive. How can I trust you?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an indivisible part of the contract that we’ll have with you as a client. We are dedicated to safeguarding the safety of the personal info collected from the customers. For this purpose, we employ technical security measures so as to prevent the loss, the misuse, the alteration or the unauthorized leakage of the personal data under our control. The safety measures include, but are not limited to: physical, digital and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the info that we assemble online. When we request customers to supply financial info (for example, a credit card number), this info is masked using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption method.
-
Q: What about downtime? Will my website be offline?
A: Nah. Your website will remain visible online during the transfer. Once everything is completed on our end, we’ll notify you so that you can examine it and check for problems. If everything is OK, all you will need to do is edit your domain’s DNS resource records.
-
Q: Will my current web hosting provider need to do anything?
A: While we transfer your web content, your hosting provider will not be aware of the transfer at all. We will never touch base with them in any way.
-
Q: Does it make a difference what platform my present hosting provider is using?
A: We support all Linux–based web hosting platforms. In essence, if we can acquire access to your Control Panel, we’ll be able to transfer your site. The only platforms that we don’t support are closed–source site management platforms such as Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square, Mr Site, etc.
